2021 AGM update

Trustees held the AGM on 16 September 2021 and it was the first opportunity to meet face-to-face for 18 months. Thank goodness for modern technology to allow the smooth operation of the charity during the restrictions of the Covid-19 restrictions. There have been lots of emails flying backwards and forwards to facilitate collective decision-making.

As an international charity we've always embraced technology to make communication easier, but Covid-19 has meant a few more processes have been streamlined as the Kenyan schools, banks and systems have also started using more technology. Thankfully this has made fulfilling our charity financial diligence a little easier than relying on faxed or photographed receipts for every student!

During the AGM we recapped the activity and went through all elements of official business, including the year's accounts, sponsorship schedule and risk register.

We have 25 secondary students at present. 12 will graduate in March 2022 (due to the Covid-19 altered academic year), 9 will finish in December 2022 and 4 in December 2023.

As we edge closer to the dissolution of the charity, we're sad to see the natural end of the charity but an honour to see the positive impact we've made. We've helped 120 scholars throughout the charity's history and it's great to witness their continued success. 60 have already gone on to secure university places and we have high hopes for the remaining students.

And remember, each of those 120 students would not have received an education without the support of sponsors through KES charity. Thanks again to all our sponsors and supporters.
